Remember the little sneak peek of my Scheepjes *Cotton 8 project I showed you last week here? Well, this is it in all its glory! I named it Illuminations Blanket because it it so full of light and color!

Crochet Patterns for TWO Scarves!

I've got TWO new scarf patterns ready! And I'm loving them both! Wanna see?

When I sat down with my huge stash of Scheepjes *Colour Crafter to begin the motif that was in my head, I really wanted to make something with some depth and dimension. I wanted it to be a good sized square (this one is 5.5"). I wanted something that "moved". And something magical happened! This little motif came together in just over an hour! That NEVER happens in my design world! Magic, I tell ya!

Eye Need a Free Case

I'm getting older. And with that increase in age comes the need for reading glasses. The other day, I removed my favorite glasses and dropped them in my purse. Bad idea. A sharp edge of something scratched them--right in the middle of the lens. But with a crochet hook and some yarn--a lot of problems can be solved, right? So, I'm sharing a free crochet pattern for an Eyewear Case with you!

I immediately went to my Scheepjes Catona yarn as the mercerized cotton is perfect for the durable project I needed. And the colors are so fabulous!

Chromatic Cobbles Blanket -- Design Wars Scheepjes Merino Soft

When the opportunity arose to use Scheepjes Merino Soft* for a Design Wars Challenge, I jumped at the chance! And why is that, you ask?

The COLORS! With 54 colors to choose from in the Merino Soft* line, I was struggling to narrow down my color selection and finally managed to settle on “only” 22. The colors are rich, vibrant, on trend, and make me seriously happy.

Sally Blanket Ta-Dah

Don't you hate it when life gets in the way of crocheting? With "life" happening lately, I've been a bit absent. And I've missed you, my friends, and hope life has been wonderful for you! I always manage to squeeze in some good yarny time, though, and I've got an exciting new crochet design to share with you today.

Thanks to wonderful name suggestions from you beautiful folks on my Facebook page, the blanket was named...

SALLY BLANKET

It reminded me (and a few other folks) of the dress that Sally of Nightmare Before Christmas wears. The name fits. But it also looks a lot like a patchwork bunting or banner, huh? And some suggested it looks like switchbacks on a mountain trail. 

I really love the unusual construction of the blanket, too. It's super rhythmic and easy to work up in sections on-the-go. Plus, once you get going, it takes no brain power--the kind of pattern you can work whilst "watching" TV or chatting with family and friends.

Plaited Throw Crochet Pattern Ta-Dah

Things have been a tad crazy on the Felted Button front as of late. But amidst the chaos, I'm tickled to make available my Plaited Throw crochet pattern!

It's a whole bunch of color, fabulous texture and, as I always love...

...that it looks as fabulous on the back as it does on the front. I like that. A lot.

The blanket is constructed in strips with additional strips joining to the previous as-you-go. Beause of this I have rated the pattern for an intermediate crocheter, but with all of the nearly 40 included pictures and explanations, I think an ambitious beginner could easily make it. (Remember, in typical Felted Button fashion, if my patterns contain pictures, they are only for additional assistance and not meant to replace the written pattern.)

And a pretty nifty thing is that you can make the blanket any colors you wish. The pattern is written for Scheepjes Colour Crafter* and a G (4mm) hook. (The colors I used are included in the pattern!) I can envision a really pretty nautical feeling blanket, too, with alternating stripes of navy and white with red accents in the border. This really could be tailored for anyone, I think!

I worked the border with additional colors but think that it would be clean and simple in just one color, as well. You can get your hooks into this yarn from the following places--all with international shipping:

If you want to make yours a different size--easy peasy. Just work your strips to the height you want and then add as many or as few strips for width. Seriously flexible pattern.

The Blanket with Kaleidoscope Eyes

You know the Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"? There's that line that says, "...the girl with Kaleidoscope Eyes." When it came to naming this new crochet design, the name simply seemed to fit.

And oddly, my daughter recently sent me this shot she took THROUGH a kaleidoscope. Yep, the name fit.
