The Blanket with Kaleidoscope Eyes

You know the Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"? There's that line that says, "...the girl with Kaleidoscope Eyes." When it came to naming this new crochet design, the name simply seemed to fit.

And oddly, my daughter recently sent me this shot she took THROUGH a kaleidoscope. Yep, the name fit.

Lots of brilliant color and texture with easy join-as-you-go motifs making for a happy crochet pattern, I say!

This design all started with some yarn from WillowYarns.com

Willow Wash Yarn (willowyarns.com) -- Anti-Pill Acrylic in incredible colors!

This was my first experience with this incredible Willow Wash Worsted yarn! Let me tell you why I love it...

~The COLORS!!! (Those above that I used in this blanket are only a few that they offer. Seriously beautiful, I tell ya!)

~The yarn has the softest hand--no itchy, scratchy, squeaky acrylic here. And it is anti-pill so won't have that yucky fuzzy look when it's been washed and used.

~I had not a single knot in all of those skeins (which by the way made two lovely blankets--the second will be released very soon!) And finding a center-pull end was easy peasy.

~It's affordable and comes in a substantial ball. Plus, Willow offers shipping all over the world. And if you spend $50 you get free shipping.

The crazy thing about this design, too, is the completely different look you get when you change up the colors.

Take a peek at this lovey sized one by the talented Jonna of Frayed Knot.

She used a self-striping cotton which is a brilliant option for avoiding ends.

And this one is from Lori of DoubleLoDesigns.

Isn't that just so terrific? So graphic and crisp. I love when patterns do this and give you options!

I included a bunch of pictures with additional instructions for folks who haven't tried join-as-you-go before, but they don't need to be printed. (This was Jonna's first time and she said it was super easy to follow!) And I include all of the yarn colors and layout in the pattern, too.

You can read more about the details of the Kaleidoscope Eyes Blanket pattern in my shops and snag a copy:

I hope you enjoy making this one as much as I enjoyed designing it. Stay tuned for the next blanket that I made with the remaining yarn from this one. Ok. Wanna see a peek?
