Under the Awning Blanket Crochet Pattern

There's something delightful about sitting outside with a little crochet, sipping some lemonade and enjoying a cool breeze. That's what I had in mind when I designed this...

I'm calling it Under the Awning Blanket. With pretty chained flowers, a lightweight and drapey cotton, and fun Spring colors, it is perfect for just that kind of day. Plus, the cabana-like stripes seem suiting for warmer weather.

I'm pretty pleased with the textured and simple border, too.

I made this sample blanket with 9 colors of Bernat Cotton-ish--a DK or #3 weight yarn. But honestly, the yarn seems a bit lighter than that to me which is why I used an E (3.5mm) hook. And it's super soft. I have never used it before but am very pleased by the smooth hand, great stitch definition and price.

And although I used 9 colors, it would even be pretty in a single color or maybe just two. The pattern is written with blanket dimensions that make a great lap throw or crib size at 42.5 in X 58 in (84 cm X 93 cm), but it includes a multiples to make it any size you want. And there was enough yarn left to make it a bit bigger.

Snag a copy of your blanket pattern today in one of my shops:

Occasionally I get folks asking about multiple pattern bundles. You can purchase $16.50 of patterns on Etsy (every day) and save $3 with code ESAVE3.

And I got the MOST amazing idea for another design in the middle of the night last night. (Why, oh, why can't these ideas come at a better hour?) But I'm tickled and need to get my hook and yarn and try it!! Squeal! I hope it works as beautifully as I imagine in my head!

Be well. Be at peace. Be grateful. Eat your veggies. And remember that life is a gift--even when it is hard.

Gorgeous and such great texture. I also thought the yarn was lighter, it looks so delicate.
