It's happy! It's made with diamonds! And it's colorful! I looove this blanket for a myriad of reasons, and these are just a few.
Join-as-you-go motifs, lots of wonderful color, and a simple pattern makes this my favorite kind of blanket. If you've never done join-as-you-go, no fear as this pattern includes a bunch of photos with explanation to walk you through the process. If you have another favorite method of joining with this one, no worries, you can use it.
Another great thing about this blanket is that you can work the center of the diamonds on-the-go and join them later on the final round. I like portability, too.
Did I mention how much I love the colors of this yarn?! It is made from the same yarn as my Pansy Parade Blanket. Remember this one...
The pattern is written for Scheepjes Colour Crafter--soft, affordable and in an amazing palette of available colors. If you would like to get your hooks into this yarn you can find it with international shipping in these places:
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, the pattern includes a simple way to make it bigger without making and joining more motifs! Now that's nifty!
The pattern is now available--best part...I am sharing it with you for FREE!
You can find it on LoveCrafts here.
or for a small fee if you would like to support me on Etsy here.
I'm off to work on another colorful pattern. Happy Hooking to YOU!

Deleterainbow!!!!
ReplyDeleteHello there! Susan did you mention somewhere that you purchased the colors mentioned in the pattern for the Happy Harlequin blanket as a bundle somehow on Deramores? Thought I read that somewhere. Anyhow, I am able to find all the colors mentioned in the pattern except for 'Spring Green' for the Stylecraft Special DK yarn. Is there another green that you think would complement the other colors as beautiful as the Spring Green. God bless and keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteJennifer,
DeleteThe Spring Green was part of the Stylecraft Special DK bundle pack that I got from Deramore's. It is one of my VERY favorite colors in the pack--the very pale green. If you didn't get the colour pack, and you can't find it individually, King Cole sells a very similar color and weight--also from Deramore's. Have fun playing with color!
By the way, the King Cole color is also called Spring Green!
DeleteSo, So beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteBeautiful!! <3
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tabitha!
DeleteIt's amazing and very original, I love the colors and the design, thank you for sharing your pattern :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome, Ale! I hope you enjoy it!
DeleteOh, joy, joy, joy!! I just bought a lot of brilliantly colored variegated Red Heart yarn to make a colorful blanket for a coworker's one-year old boy (suffered a massive rotator cuff tear early this year that stopped me cold for crocheting for a while, but "better late than never," in this case). This wonderful pattern is way better than what I started making, so I might just switch now while I can!
ReplyDeleteI hope that shoulder heals up well! That's a brutal thing to go through, I understand. And happy to help you put that yarn to good use! Enjoy!
DeleteYour blanket is awesome! I love your design and colors. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind words. And you are very welcome!
ReplyDeleteIna,
DeleteThank you so much for your kind words. You can buy the yarn online from HobbyLobby.com. Enjoy!
Hi Susan. I am stuck on round four. I am trying to do the join as you go method. The photos show connecting a diamond without a contrasting color edge to one that already has a contrasting color edge. In round four do I complete the contrasting color all around and finish off the diamond? Thank you for your help. Yours is a beautiful piece. Thank you for sharing your pattern.
ReplyDeleteBarb, do the first diamond through round 4. Then follow the joining of the second and additional diamonds with the instructions for joining. I hope that makes sense. If you need to contact me, do so at feltedbutton@gmail.com.
DeleteI love this blanket but I can't find the pattern on line, where can I find this?
ReplyDeleteIf you click the link in the above post that says, here, you can download it in whichever shop you prefer. Happy hooking.
DeleteThanks for that, I must have had tired eyes from looking at all the beautiful blankets! :)
DeleteHey hun, I've nearly attached all my squares, its my first time doing a blanket like this, and I'm struggling with the border. Is this type called anything special so perhaps I can find a youtube video guide?
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, but I don't know if it has a name. I'm happy to assist you if you want to pm me on Facebook with specifics.
DeleteThis is so beautiful, just what I was looking for! IT looks fairly straight forward too, your pattern is detailed and clear (thank you!). I was thinking of making the larger motifs, as you suggest, for making the blanket larger and was wondering how much yarn I will need to do that. Many thanks x
ReplyDeleteYou won't need any more yarn than is called for in the pattern if you are working the larger motif as detailed there.
