I'm calling it Painted Pixels Blanket because the little boxes look like pixels
and the delightful blending of colors reminds me of blending little pots of paint on an artist's palette.
Look at these little color sections...
Now, if you are one of those folks who thinks joining is a dreaded task, let me tell you, I came up with a very simple technique here that makes it all happen very quickly without needle and yarn, but rather your hook. I like easy joining.
The pattern includes instructions for making a baby size blanket or an afghan. Actually, it could be made in any size or dimensions you want with this pattern. Just keep making those little motifs and throw them in a bin. Make as many as you want--they each work up in just minutes. When it comes times to arrange them, go for it! Turn on some happy music and PLAY. Then when you need to pick the motifs up in rows, I suggest doing so on skewers like I detail here. Using this technique you don't have to leave them out while you join--just pull the next one off the skewer as you go. By the way, the joining is done with your hook so it speeds along!
Color, texture and options. That's what Felted Button is all about!
You can find the pattern here...
Hugs and happy days to you!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Annette! It's always so satisfying to have something that you can envision in your head clearly with only the hope that it will translate into what you pictured actually turn out just as you imagined. It has been like that with this one and I'm very happy! Glad it makes you smile!

DeleteWhat yarn did you use for this and how much yarn is required for a baby size blanket?
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add to my comment, that I think the beautiful of your blanket is really complemented by the gradient colors you used for it. It's lovely.
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought a lot of patterns, but I fell in love with this as soon as I saw it and it is a must. I totally agree with your serious color happiness going on. I love the shading. Makes me want to go to the yarn store right now.

DeleteOHMIGOSH! This is awesome! Want this pattern for sure.....are the little pixels joined as you go?
ReplyDeleteFay, Thank you! The color layout of this pattern was not possible with join-as-you-go, but the joining method is very simple and amazingly quick!
DeleteHi Susan,
ReplyDeletewhat I the name of the yarn you used in this blanket and where can I find it. Its absolutely gorgeous.
Maria, You can read more about the pattern and yarns at this link...http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/painted-pixels-blanket
DeleteYou can find the yarn at Wal Mart or purchase from Red Heart Yarns directly online.
Susan,
ReplyDeleteDid you use self-striping yarn? Maybe that's what "colorway" means? Still a bit of a newbie here. :)
Hey, Tammy, we've all been newbies at some point! When I say 7 colorways, I'm essentially saying 7 different colored skeins. But, yes, this is self-striping yarn with really long runs of color. So each little motif gets its own personality. It's seriously fun!
DeleteI love all your patterns - so much beauty and life in them!
ReplyDeleteWhy, thank you! What a sweet comment.
