Let me show you what I whipped up this morning...
A while back I picked up these apple-shaped hand soap dispensers at Joann. (I've since seen them at Wal Mart, too.)
Inexpensive and cute I thought they would make nice gifts for teachers--I was thinking Christmas or Teacher Appreciation Week. So I snagged them.
But then, because everything must be covered in yarn ;) I decided that I could whip up two gifts in one:
1. Soap in a cute apple dispenser
2. An apple cozy for teacher's lunch later
With the Christmas rush on, I was not in the mode for designing my own, so I browsed a bit for a cute pattern and came across one from Bailee over at Little Abbee. It's a great little tutorial and easily adjustable to my dispenser size.
The only change I really needed was to lengthen my button loop from 15 chains to 22 chains in order to reach around the top of the apple.
I used I Love This Cotton from Hobby Lobby in Red for both cozies and Apple Green (appropriate, huh) and Pistache for the leaves since it is for a Christmas gift. But, can't you just see this in crazy fun colors--even stripes?!
And don't you looove the nifty buttons I found in my button stash? (Yes, I have one of those, too. Hence: Felted BUTTON.)
Here's a peek at the back of the cozy...
I'm thinking these would make really sweet gifts for neighbors, too. I'm off to check the store for more apple soap dispensers!

Happy Hooking my dear friends!!
