...a delicate and lacy little heart made from thread.
The lady that made it has since
passed away and I don't know where the pattern is from--if you know who came up with this originally, please let me know because I would like to credit the designer--so after a wee bit of study I worked up one of my own.
First this one.
Then this one.
Then some more.
They are so unusual and fun that I thought I would share the "LOVE" by writing up the pattern I came up with for it. I changed things up--not just with color--but with an extra bit of edging, too.
It also has instructions for making the hanging chain, a fun little chaining method I just came up with today. It has probably been done before but I have never seen it. I made it by holding two colors together and then 'taking turns' completing a chain stitch with each color. (It looks so much tidier than chaining with both of them together, as the strands blend unevenly--know what I mean?).
I'm pretty happy with the end result--a little Valentine love that I can share with you--I call it "From the Heart" Bunting.
They make sweet little coasters, too.
As always, I love to see pictures of other's projects--so please share the "love" back! The best way to do that is via Facebook. If you haven't 'liked' the page click here and keep in the "Button" loop. You can also follow me on Instagram (@FeltedButton).
If you aren't following this blog via email, please do--that way you'll stay abreast of the newest patterns and happenings here at Felted Button. (It's up there at the top of my sidebar.)

Dear Susan, How did you know I wanted to make some hearts before Valentine's?! :) I am going to try this right away. Most of all I like the hanging chain. I have used this technique in embroidery but never in crochet. Thank you for the patterns.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week. Love.

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your pattern. I love the lacy hearts. I was thinking they would make great coasters. And maybe they can be incorporated into placemats. I absolutely love the color choices you made also. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteSo dainty and sweet! And the color palate is what really makes it for me. Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteFrom what I am seeing in the pictures, the heart is a traditional Swedish crochet heart. They are traditionally made as Christmas tree decorations in red thread with a steel crochet hook. Your interpretation is of the pattern looks perfect, and I love the color/size variations!! I too have done some experimenting and made mock-ups in blue and yellow (Swedish flag colors). Thanks so much! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Shortly after I did this post, I discovered the Swedish hearts, too! Blue and yellow sounds perfect! I have family from Sweden so this would make a lovely gift!
DeleteThese hearts are so pretty that you crocheted and perfect for today! Happy Valentine's Day! I saw this at the Hookin on Hump Day party.
