::FREE Summer Flower Bunting Crochet Pattern::

I thought I might share a free crochet pattern just to brighten your day.  I made this little bunting awhile ago but finally got around to writing up the pattern and taking some photos for the tutorial. I'm calling it my Summer Flower Bunting.

Here goes:


Materials::

Worsted weight yarn of your favorite type (I used cotton worsted weight yarn in 12 different colors for the garland pictured.  This is a fabulous “stash-busting” project, so be creative!!)

Hooks – F (4.0mm) and H (5.0mm)

I also think a button center would be awesome--as everything is more awesome with BUTTONS!

Small Flower Motif::

With F hook, make a magic ring (or ch 3, join in first ch to make a ring)

Rnd 1:  9 hdc in ring, join to first hdc with sl st (9 sts)

Rnd 2:  ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, join to first sc with sl st (18 sts)

Rnd 3: *(hdc, dc,) (dc, hdc), sl st* repeat six times around, sl st to first sl st (6 petals). Fasten off.  Weave in ends.

Large Flower Motif::

With H hook, repeat small flower instructions.  The larger hook size will make a slightly larger flower that can then be seen behind the smaller one.

Slip Stitching Flowers Together::
Place small flower on top of large flower, matching up the petals. Using H hook, insert hook RS facing through top of small flower between Rnd 2 and Rnd 3 

and then through the larger flower between the same rounds. Pull up loop of contrasting yarn.

Insert hook between next stitches, yo pull up loop and complete sl st (below)

Continue slip-stitching around. 

This is what the back should look like—basically a running stitch or the back of a slip stitch.

Fasten off. Pull ends through to back of flower and weave in.

Hanging Chain:: To make the connecting chain, use the H hook to ch 25, sc in center of petal between two dc stitches of large flower (shown below), ch 4, sc in center of adjacent petal, ch 10, repeat on remaining flowers, ending with ch 25.  Fasten off. 

Note::  You can always adjust the distance between flowers by changing up the number of chains between each flower. You can also add or subtract flowers to adjust the length.
