Since the beginning of the new year, I've been super busy planning lots of crochet designs for the year, hosting my 5th Dimension Blanket CAL, and keeping my hook flying! I probably should have spent more time on my computer than with my crochet hook, but who wants to do that? Not me. Let me show you one of the things that has recently rolled off my hook.
Admittedly, I have an obsession with cushions and pillows! (I currently have 9 on my bed and 10 on just one of my sofas.) To me, they're the perfect piece of decor to make a spot of home look cozy, welcoming and fresh. Change a cushion cover for a totally new look. Add a pillow here or there to provide a tad extra back support on a deep seat. Bring colors together in a room with a few coordinating cushions. Pillows are positively perfect! Just my 2 cents. (Did you catch my alliteration there?)
The front motif of this pillow may look familiar to you. It all started with the same motif I used for my Asanas Blanket.
If you remember this blanket, it is a free pattern that you can find here. And as you may recall I made it with the amazing Scheepjes Namaste yarn that I talk about more here. The yarn is chunky with beautiful stitch definition and really squishy! Plus, look at the 34 splendid colors!
Oddly enough I made my Asanas Pillow out of a neutral. In fact, when I posted this picture on Instagram, I had a few comments about how it was so "without color" -- so unlike me.
And that is true. It's pretty neutral for me. But, I can add it to lots of other colorful spots in my house, so that's okay with me.
I decided to make a pillow back with a button-closure placket so that it could be washed if necessary. And, of course, the placket has buttons that don't match. I like the interest and story of each individual button. Button have stories, you know, just like you and me. They've been places. They've heard, seen and felt things. They've held things together. They've got history. I like that about them.
So whether you like neutrals...
...or more color...
The Asanas Pillow can be well suited for your own little space.
Poise your hook and get your yarn ahead of time if you want to make it. I used 4 balls which you can find below (all with international shipping):
Wool Warehouse *(UK)
Deramores *(UK)
Black Sheep Wools *(UK)
Knotty House *(CA)
Local Scheepjes Stockists
I also used a 14" (35.5cm) square pillow form that I found on Amazon here*.
Watch for the pattern to be released next week. You can be notified on my Instagram feed/stories (@FeltedButton) or on my Facebook page here. I'll also announce in my Felted Button Crochet Community group here, where folks gather to talk all things yarny, find support, and share their works-in-progress.
See you next week!
