YARN Book-A-Zine FOLK Is on the Shelf

There's a lot of beauty happening right now in the crochet world so I thought I would pop in and share a bit of what I've creativity I've come across lately.

Firstly, the YARN Book-a-zine FOLK issue was just released. There is nothing old-fashioned and frumpy about this! Would you take a peek at this blanket?! Rachele Carmona of Cypress Textiles has come through in her characteristic style of color, asymmetry and mixing up motifs and stitches in creative ways!

Every one of the 17 designs in this magazine are simply fabulous, colorful, whimsical and, well...folksy. They are right down my alley. This is some serious crochet art, I tell ya! Jellina Verhoeff of Jellina Creations made this fabulously timeless tote in her graphic print style that looks like walking art--with pops of color, as well!

Then there's the Frida Shawl by Nerissa Muijs of Miss Neriss Crochet. She's designed a luxurious and cozy shawl with playful and colorful embroidery. And would you look at the fastener for it! So unique, clever and wearable! I'm thinking I must make one of these for myself because that is screaming SUE!

While we're looking...could you just take a gander at the styling of this 100 page book?   The vibe, the heavy paper pages that smell so good (admission about this sensory addiction below), the stitched seam, the back flap with punched holes for looping yarn choices through with room for noting shade names, etc. It's all over-the-top brilliant! And while I'm talking about paper, I must admit something. I'm a book smeller. Yes, as a reading-obsessed child strolling up and down the aisles of the library, often my book selections were made by a sniff of the pages and touch of the paper. Is this just me? If you have joined me in this "odd" behavior, YARN smells goooood!!

As a blanket lover, I was also drawn to the amazing Quaker Quilt by Esther Dijkstra of It's all in a Nutshell. It reminds me of the barn quilts that I see around, like on my dear friend Astri's home here. The colors are perfect for the graphic design of her blanket. Black and white always look so crisp contrasting with bright color, I think.

These Fairy Homes by Maria McPherson of 50 Shades of 4-Ply are superbly whimsical and fun. They would be a darling addition to brighten up a little spot in my home. Because I need a little more color in my world...really...I do! Besides, the wee homes have buttons!

I've got a new chunky and warm blanket coming out next week. I'll post more about the yarn (Scheepjes Namaste) and the square I used in a day or so and on my social media--Instagram and Facebook

Have a day full of fun, focus, family and friends!
