Crochet Pattern: Around the Corner Blanket

If you've followed Felted Button around for long, you probably know that I'm a tad color-obsessed and that translates into my crochet patterns being full of color. You might also know that I love to design blankets. Today's new crochet pattern fits both tickets--a new colorful blanket!

Let me introduce you to my Around the Corner Blanket.

The granny motifs look a bit like textured stars and are joined-as-you-go--which is something I really prefer when it comes to motifs. Then the stripey "corner" is added before the entire thing is bordered.

I'm really happy with how the border turned out. I changed up the colors on each side for some extra interest but you could do it all in one color if you prefer. And I'm pleased that it lays flat and has enough heft to keep the edge of the blanket straight.

Here's a close up of the motifs. I think the floating center is pretty cool--and it looks pretty awesome from the back, too.

The 15 page pattern was thoroughly tested by some fabulously talented ladies and includes a bunch of pictures to assist with joining and an interesting stitch in the border--but it doesn't need to be printed to complete the pattern. I also included a complete materials list--including the 26 colors of Loops & Threads Colorwheel that I picked up at my local Michaels. It's a really soft, anti-pill acrylic worsted/aran yarn which is snuggly and perfect for blankets. I also like that the balls are only 1.75oz/50g so it's more affordable when you want to use lots of different colorways. Bonus...I got mine for $1/ball. With those skeins--and a bunch of extra white--I've got enough left over to make another blanket design.

{SNEAK PEEK} (Pattern coming in a couple of weeks! If you don't want to miss the release of this pattern or any other Felted Button hooky happenings, follow me on Facebook here, Instagram here or Pinterest here.)

So...back to my Around the Corner Blanket...

The pattern also includes lots of photos for the joining process. If you haven't tried join-as-you-go before, don't be intimidated. It might seem a tad fiddly at first, but I really try to walk you through with this one. Besides--no putting a pile of motifs together at the end--and fewer ends!!

You can find the pattern on Etsy, and Felted Button can also now be found on LoveCrochet.

And isn't that linen stitch corner just happy?!

    1. Thanks, Samantha! Color explosion here, huh? I have always loved brights against white. And I agree, it makes it seem light and summery.
