I made this sample with a lovely alpaca/acrylic blend--super soft with an incredible drape--and not too expensive, either--BONUS! The yarn label says it is a medium (4) yarn, but at 7 wpi, it really is more of a bulky yarn. Having said this, though, because this blanket is so easy to adjust size-wise, you could use almost any weight yarn you wanted.
It's constructed with four panels that are then joined and bordered. Although it is written as baby size, it includes simple instructions to adjust it to any dimensions you want. The joining is super simple and speedy, too!
I'm loving the options for color with this one, too. Imagine each panel worked in rainbow stripes--even stash busting ones--for a super bright and happy blanket. I can even see it done in neutrals for a very elegant, heirloom-looking blanket, too. Look at this incredible one worked in playful brights by my fab tester, Cass Dodge! It's always amazing to me how changing up the color can alter the entire look of the design! Neat-o, huh?
Plus the stitch texture is terrifically terrific, I think. This is one of those patterns that I have classified as "Easy" since once you have the basic stitches down, it hardly requires referring to the pattern again. I like that--a project that you can work on while you are "watching" TV or chatting with friends.
The pattern includes a special stitch section, stitch abbreviations, complete materials list, instructions for adjusting the size of your project, and several pictures to help you through--although they are not required to finish the blanket and you never need to print them if you don't want to.
