~~I love the crisp texture and clean color palette of the Scheepjes Softfun yarn.
~~I love the modern, graphic designs--mandala circle, zig-zagged stripes and color-blocked squares.
~~I love the rhythm of the stitch patterns.
Let me show you all three separately...
What do I love about the Mandala Taking Shape Pillow?
With a very simple overlay design of the mandala at the center, loads of texture and a simple linen stitch with fun color-play, this cushion cover is a fun blend of complexity and simplicity.
What do I love about the Color-Block Pillow?
Simple and textured blocks of color, arranged in an interesting way and joined speedy quick using a hook with a contrasting color makes this pillow cover really appealing.
What do I love about the Herringbone Taking Shape Pillow?
Texture!! I made this cushion cover with a really fun stitch pattern that I show you here. And the way the colors blend and play make it look more complicated than it really is. This pillow just needs to be touched, right?
Included in the PDF pattern are instructions for making the removable back, too.
Because the backs have a button-closure, the cover is easily removable for washing. And besides--I love adding buttons to my projects. These were made with bits of remaining colors of the Scheepjes Softfun used in each of the pillows, but the patterns are written to make each back in solid white. You can choose, of course, which you prefer.
You can get the pattern here which includes all three pillow covers in any of my shops.
I used about 890 yds (815m) of DK cotton blend yarn for each cover (Scheepjes Softfun and Softfun Aquarel) and a G (4mm) hook. You'll also need a 20" (51cm) square pillow form and 5 buttons for the back closure. You can read more about skill level, yarn quantities, and pattern details on the Ravelry listing here.
What are the skill levels? From left to right: Intermediate, Experienced, Easy.
(Note: If you want to know more about the industry standards for determining skill levels, you can check them out on the Craft Yarn Council's site here.)
Make one, make two, make all three! I personally like the set together, but you can choose.
I've got more exciting hooky happenings here at the Felted Button front. So, stay in the "Button" loop by following me around on Facebook, Instagram (@FeltedButton) or Pinterest. Love, love, love these pillows! (And Pres. Monson's quote! 😉)
